Incoterms® 2020 – DAP (Delivered At Place, unpaid)
All orders outside the UK are shipped under DAP (Delivered At Place, unpaid). This means:
-
We deliver to your destination country.
-
You are responsible for:
-
Import clearance.
-
Payment of import VAT, duties, and carrier handling/processing fees.
-
-
Charges are set and collected by your country’s customs or courier — not by Howl Jewellery.
EU Orders
-
The EU’s low-value VAT exemption ended 1 July 2021. All consignments, regardless of value, are subject to local VAT.
-
Additional customs duties and handling fees may apply.
-
We do not use IOSS. Your parcel will arrive DAP: VAT, duties, and fees are collected on arrival before delivery.
USA Orders (Post–August 2025)
-
As of 29 August 2025, the United States has suspended the $800 de minimis duty exemption.
-
All consignments, regardless of value, are now subject to U.S. import duties, taxes, and fees.
-
Shipments must be cleared using an appropriate entry (formal or informal), typically handled by carriers/brokers.
-
Postal shipments may be processed separately under USPS/customs rules.
-
All orders are shipped DDP (Delivered Duties Paid). You’ll see all duties upfront at checkout—nothing more to pay on arrival.
Customer Responsibilities
-
You are responsible for tracking your parcel and paying any applicable customs, VAT, or duties.
-
Orders refused or returned due to non-payment of import charges, customs duties or taxes will be dealt with on a case by case basis.
If a parcel is returned to us, we will process it in line with UK consumer law. This may include deducting outbound shipping, return shipping charges billed to us, and any customs or handling fees incurred.
-
You must ensure accurate name, address, email, and phone details at checkout. We are not liable for delays, returns, or costs due to incorrect or incomplete information.
-
We are legally required to submit accurate customs declarations (correct description and value). We cannot mark parcels as gifts or undervalue shipments.
Non-Payment, Refusals & Returns
We are a small business run by just two people, and unfortunately we cannot cover the costs of customers failing to pay import charges.
-
If you do not pay your import charges, your parcel will not be delivered.
-
Orders refused or returned due to non-payment of import charges, customs duties or taxes will be dealt with on a case by case basis.
Loss, Delay & Proof of Delivery
-
Customs inspections may extend delivery times. This is outside our control.
-
We will assist with investigations into delays or missing parcels.
-
Where the carrier’s scans/GPS confirm delivery to the address provided, no compensation will be issued for theft, loss, or non-receipt after delivery.
-
Deliveries to shared/public addresses (e.g., university halls, business mailrooms) are at your risk once delivery is recorded.
Governing Terms
-
By placing an order, you accept these Shipping & Customs Terms as binding.
-
These terms apply in addition to our Returns Policy.
-
We reserve the right to update these terms in line with changes to customs law, VAT rules, or shipping regulations.
